She’s worked with clients and colleagues as varied as NASCAR, Levi’s and Vice President Al Gore, produced live events for Mortified Twin Cities, and created Wallflour Foods. She’s a Minnesota United season ticket holder, the human half of certified therapy dog Sophie the Leonberger, and is often cited for publishing early academic work about internet fandom and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Shana is a media executive, writer and producer who for 25 years has led dramatic transformations at legacy companies, including LAist Studios, where she was named Adweek’s 2024 Podcast Executive of the Year and won the Podcast Academy’s 2025 Ambie Award for best society & culture podcast. At Entertainment Weekly, she spearheaded fan-first video and audio coverage and the creation of EW’s industry-changing moving digital covers. While editor in chief at Entertainment Tonight online, she scaled the digital operation into a 24/7 newsroom that topped comScore and YouTube charts. She was a longtime contributing editor and cover story writer for OUT magazine, and a few years ago ranked every single Elton John song ever recorded for Vulture. She lives in Los Angeles with her wife and their dog, Miss Thing.
